Dr Deepthi Kanjirathodiyil is an HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience across NHS, hospital, and private settings in India and the UK. She works primarily with adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, low mood, relationship difficulties, shame, and the emotional impact of long-term health conditions.
You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, or carrying a lot internally while appearing to cope on the outside. Sometimes people come to therapy feeling disconnected from themselves, caught in cycles of worry, self-criticism, or uncertainty in relationships. Others may be adjusting to illness, loss, or major life changes and struggling to make sense of what they are feeling.
Deepthi offers a thoughtful, warm, and collaborative space where difficulties can be explored at a pace that feels manageable. Her way of working is grounded in the belief that symptoms often have a story, and that therapy can help people understand themselves more deeply rather than simply “fix” what feels wrong. She aims to create a space where clients feel safe enough to reflect, feel, and grow.
Her approach is psychodynamic and integrative. This means she pays close attention to how past experiences, attachment patterns, and ways of coping may shape present difficulties, while also drawing on CBT, ACT, and compassion-focused approaches where helpful. Therapy with Deepthi is tailored to the individual, combining reflective depth with practical support where needed.
Alongside her broader clinical work, she has particular experience in working with the psychological impact of chronic illness, identity struggles, cross-cultural experiences, and long-standing relational difficulties. She is committed to offering a culturally sensitive, respectful, and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship.
Deepthi is HCPC-registered in the UK and trained at NIMHANS, India, where she completed both her MPhil in Clinical Psychology and PhD. She currently works within NHS services in London.

About Chaper One Psychology
Flexible
We understand that life can be busy, and committing to the same time each week isn’t always realistic. That’s why we aim to be as flexible as possible, offering appointments at a pace that works for you—whether weekly, fortnightly, or something different.
The International Team 🌍
We are comprised of clinicians from all over the world with diverse backgrounds and experiences. This helps us match you with the therapist who’s the best fit for your needs, so you feel comfortable and supported from the start.
Client-centred
At Chapter One Psychology, we don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all. Our aim is to help you reach your goals as effectively as possible, without keeping you in therapy longer than you need. Some people feel ready after just a couple of sessions, while others prefer longer-term support—and we’re happy to provide whichever feels right for you.
Tailored to You
Our team is skilled in a wide range of therapies, which means we can shape our approach around your unique needs. This ensures your therapy is personalised and focused on helping you achieve the changes that matter most to you.
NHS Trained Professionals
Every member of our team has trained within the NHS, bringing with them valuable experience and the latest knowledge of evidence-based approaches—so you can feel confident you’re receiving safe, effective care.
Our Ethos
At the heart of our practice is the belief that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change. We recognise that progress begins when individuals feel truly seen, heard, and understood. By creating a compassionate and collaborative space, we build trust and partnership with every client. It is within this relationship — between therapist and client in the room — that healing, growth, and resilience can flourish.
Embeded in evidence
Our practice is grounded in psychological research and guided by evidence-based approaches. Every assessment, formulation, and intervention we offer is informed by evidence that is shown to make a real difference. By combining clinical expertise with scientific evidence, we ensure that the care we provide is not only compassionate but also effective, reliable, and tailored to your needs.
